・・AORとは、Audio-Oriented Rock（オーディオ・オリエンテッド・ロック）、
またはAlbum-Oriented Rock（アルバム・オリエンテッド・ロック）の略であり、
音楽のジャンルの一つである。
音を重視するのがAudio-Oriented Rock、
アルバム全体としての完成度を重視するのがAlbum-Oriented Rock、
アダルト現代音楽はAdult Contemporary(AC)。
大人を重視したロック(Adult Oriented Rock)は和製英語・日本発の用語である。
それゆえにOrientedの前にハイフンが入らない。
近年はAdult Contemporaryという語を除いてどれも使われなくなってきている。
